On behalf of the officers of SICET, we are pleased to have you present in Orlando, Florida October 18-22, 2005 for “Exploring the Vision.” You may access the following link to see all the SICET presentations at AECT convention 2005: http://www.aect.org/events/Orlando/ProgramList.asp?Submissionid=SICET We request your assistance in assuring the accuracy of the program for both the Web interface and the printed program. Please make sure that you will be in Orlando at least one day before your presentation. Find your room in advance of the presentation (the day before!) so you know where you're going. If you are not able to come to the conference, you need to inform us as soon as possible. If you are absent from the conference while your presentation information is on the program, it will very negatively affect SICET’s reputation and yours as well. We will not consider your proposals next year if it happens this year. For your convenience, we provide the following guidelines: Registration and Hotel Information Make sure you register for the conference. The online registration form (http://www.aect.org/events/Orlando/default.asp?clientid=) allows either payment by credit card or an invoice will be mailed if you select purchase order or check option. We are about a month out. Please note: The Coronado Springs has been filled. However, you will be able to find a hotel room in the Disney All-Stars Sports complex (at $99 a night). AECT will be providing bus service between the hotels Wednesday through Saturday in addition to the Disney bus service. Equipment and Handouts You should find projection equipment and any other equipment and materials that you have requested in advance with your proposal. However, AECT requires you to bring your own computer to plug into the projector. Bring any handouts you plan to use. Do not expect to find any kind of reasonably priced alternatives at the hotel. Better is to put your handouts online and just give out the URL on a business card. Concurrent and Themed Sessions A concurrent session will have a "facilitator" who will actually call the session to order, introduce you, hand out evaluation forms, and generally free you to concentrate on doing your thing. Themed Sessions are two or more Concurrent Sessions assigned to the same room and time. If you are in the themed sessions, you are expected to remain in the assigned room during the entire time block assigned to your Theme. For example, if your session is scheduled from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m. on October 21 and the presenters whose presentations are themed with your session are scheduled from 11:45 a.m. -- 12:15 p.m. and from 12:45 – 1:00 p.m., you - and the presenters for the same themed session - are expected to remain in the room from 11:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Roundtable Sessions All SICET roundtable presentations are scheduled for 60 minutes (2:15 - 3:15 p.m.) in Coronado J on Thursday, Oct. 20th. No presentation media will be provided except an AC outlet and an easel. Bring your laptop. If you plan on using the Internet, you must have a wireless card. Poster Sessions All SICET posters are scheduled at the same location and the same time as the roundtable session. You should plan to be stationed at your poster table to answer questions. If you must leave, please post a sign at your poster table indicating when you will be available to answer questions. You will be provided a small table, a tri-fold display board, and materials to attach your graphics, photos, papers, visuals, and the like. The table should be large enough to support the display board as well as your laptop, handouts, and any other small artifacts that you provide. There will be electrical outlets at the table and wireless Internet access, however, no other presentation media (such as computer projectors) will be provided. SICET General Session The SICET General Session is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on October 20, 2005. The session will be located at Coronado N. We expect all SICET members to come. We welcome everyone who is interested in the SICET organization. At this general session, we will introduce our journal International Journal of Technology in Teaching and Learning, discuss our Summer Fellowship past and future, and more.SICET Conference Dinner The SICET Conference Dinner is scheduled on October 20th, 6:30 - 9:30 PM (right after the General Session), at Pepper Market, Disney Coronado Springs Resort. The dinner is not only for SICET members and prospective members; it is also open for your friends and families. Dr. Shuyan Wang is in charge of the dinner event. Please RSVP by contacting Dr. Wang via email <shuyan.wang@usm.edu> no later than Oct 16. Thanks. Dual Membership Discount AECT has a domestic 'Affiliate' membership that is basically half the regular membership for electronic access only to the publications. This could reduce the cost of convention registration for domestic non-AECT members if they first purchase the discounted membership and then register for the convention. You have to be a SICET member in order to benefit from the dual membership discount.
